Permit Information

Limerick Township is accepting construction/zoning permits. Any individual desiring to submit plans or permit application can do so via USPS, electronically by emailing to pramsey@limerickpa.org, or at the physical drop-off box located within the vestibule of the Township building.

This is used as a general guide only. For specific requirements and exemptions, please contact the Township Code Services Department.

Residential Construction Permits

Permits are required for the following:

  • New buildings and additions
  • Garages, barns, sheds, and other accessory structures
  • Alterations or renovations including basements
  • All decks and patios
  • Swimming pools and hot tubs, both in ground and above ground
  • Roofing work including new roofs or replacement roofs
  • Plumbing, including new sewer connections, electrical, heating, and air conditioning work
  • Solar installations

Non Residential Construction Permits

Permits are required for the following:

  • New buildings and additions
  • Alterations or renovations to existing space including tenant fit out
  • Plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning work
  • Roofing work including new roofs and replacement roofs
  • Solar installations

  Permits are not required for the following:

  • Fences less than 6-feet high
  • Residential swing sets or play equipment
  • Retaining walls less than 4-feet high
  • Sidewalks or walkways not located within the public street right-of-way
  • Temporary inflatable swimming pools containing less than 24-inches of water
  • Replacement of Siding
  • Replacement of Doors (same size)
  • Replacement of Windows (same size)

Zoning Use Permits

Zoning Use Permits are required for the following:

  • Alterations, which include new or expanded outdoor display
  • Change in use of a structure, land, or change in use of a non-conforming use
  • New construction
  • Addition of a dwelling unit to existing home, including in-law suites
  • Temporary uses such as carnivals and seasonal sales of flowers, fireworks and Christmas trees
  • Tenant Fit-Outs: non-residential change in occupancy, owner or tenant
