When is a residential construction permit required?

A residential construction permit is required for all additions and alterations to a residential building, including accessory buildings like sheds, garages, barns, and decks that are 30 inches or more above grade. Finishing basements and modifications and changes to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems also require permits. Please refer to the Permits & Forms page to access the necessary permit application(s).
