Limerick Township is home to Pottstown-Limerick Airport, Exelon’s Limerick Generating Station, Philadelphia Premium Outlets and many other commercial and industrial businesses. It is a rural community that provides housing for all lifestyles and price ranges. It is one of four communities in the Spring Ford Area School District which provides excellent educational opportunities.
There are three public parks which offer picnic facilities and other accommodations for different recreation opportunities. Limerick Community Park, Linfield Landing, and Veteran’s Park are excellent places for both passive and active recreation.
Limerick Township is a great place to live, work and play
The area that now comprises Limerick Township was first settled in the last decade of the 17th century by Welsh immigrants. Limerick Township was incorporated in 1726 and originally included the river crossing community of Royersford which was not established as a separate borough until 1879. Limerick’s early commercial growth resulted largely from the agricultural trade. The Village of Limerick at Ridge and Swamp Pikes was the Township’s first concentrated settlement.
